What is the point of having a president?

The president, although weakened by congress, has more power than any single person in the world. His influence extends throughout the entire government and political sphere. People listen to him. Also, he is the Commander in Chief. He commands the armed forces. He is also in charge of diplomatic relations. He is necessary.
