Step-dad doesn't want to sit and "wait" at hospital for delivery of my first nephew.?

My brother's girlfriend is having a baby RIGHT NOW as we speak, I am not sure if she is in like REALLY hard-cord labor or whatever, but this will be my first nephew and I would like to be there when he comes into the world. Well my step-dad ALWAYS changes his mind like 24/7, no kidding and he claims he doesn't wait for the baby to come, so he said we'll just see the baby when they arrive at the house from the hospital this Friday. He went back and forth about going, him and my sister sound so nonchalant about it all, all they were concerned about what food and being bored there or whatever. He keep turning about, debating in the car whether to go like 3 times when we were in the car. Finally, after him saying, "Well **** I aint gonna be sittin up there waiting for her to push for no 3 hours or whatever"... he asked if I wanted to go for the last time, he really pissed me off about changing his mind, so I was just was like, "No, it's fine"... So we headed home and I feel horrible about it all. At first I was iffy about going because the hospital where she is delivering the baby is the same place my mom ped away like 6 months ago. But I built up the courage to want to go, but now I can't. I am 18 years old, I have my own car, but sadly I only have a driver's permit and even if I did have my license, it's dark out and I don't have really good vision at night while driving even with my gles. I feel soooo bad, what should I do?
